RAPHAEL VARANE WILL BEGIN AGAINST DENMARK, WITH JULES KOUNDÉ REPLACING BENJAMIN PAVARD

The Veteran is ready to play the next World Cup clash

Raphael Varane is set to start against Denmark on Saturday after missing France‘s World Cup opener against Australia. Benjamin Pavard will stay on the bench.

Varane has never played since suffering an injury while playing for Manchester United in late October. His World Cup prospects were affected after sustaining an injury in a 0-0 tie with Chelsea. However, as Didier Deschamps announced in his pre-match press conference, the former Real Madrid center-back was “fit and ready” to start the game.

He did not play in that game, but he will against Denmark. Varane appears to be set to replace Ibrahima Konaté in Les Bleus‘ backline. This will not be the only adjustment to France’s defense.

Jules Koundé is set to replace Pavard at right-back after the Bayern Munich player is guilty for Australia’s first goal. In other news, France will stick with the same 4-3-3 formation that they used in the first group stage match.
