Luka Modric’s agent has refused to dismiss reports that his client may leave Real Madrid when the January transfer window opens.
With his contract expiring this summer, the Croatian international was heavily linked with a move away from Los Blancos, but he ultimately agreed to a one-year extension.
This season, the 38-year-old has made 15 appearances for Real Madrid, but he has only started six times, with the majority of his appearances coming off the bench in the second half of games.
Modric recently admitted that he was dissatisfied with his lack of starts, and there have been rumors that he could leave in January, with several Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly interested.
Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, stated last month that he expected the midfielder to stay at the Bernabeu for the rest of the season.
However, there is no clear path back into the starting XI for him, as he was named to the bench against Valencia last weekend despite Aurelien Tchouameni’s broken foot.
Eduardo Camavinga, Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, and Federico Valverde are all ahead of him in the pecking order, and clubs in Saudi Arabia are said to be interested in signing him in January.
Luka Modric to stay at Real Madrid
Borja Couce, Modric’s agent, has refused to rule out a mid-season switch, saying that a move to the Saudi Pro League is “possible if the offer is suitable.”
“Saudi nightclubs?” This summer, there was speculation about signing Modric.
“Modric is currently considering a move to Real Madrid, but a move to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable.”
“I wouldn’t go into that now (his exit), there’s still a long time until winter and the end of the year.”
“I’ve said it many times: at my age, you can’t plan anything in advance; you have to go one day at a time from game to game, and we’ll see what the future holds.”
Modric has appeared in 503 games for Real Madrid in all competitions, scoring 37 goals and registering 78 assists.
Dinamo Zagreb’s president of the board, Vlatka Peras, has also recently stated that the club wants to re-sign Modric next year.
