Alejandro Garnacho’s spectacular bicycle kick against Everton has been voted the Premier League 2023/24 Goal of the Season.

In late November, the teenage Argentina international scored an incredible goal for Manchester United in a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

As expected, football fans all over the world compared the goal to Wayne Rooney’s historic effort against Manchester City in 2011.

Garnacho celebrated his goal by mimicking Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature ‘Siuuu’ gesture, the world-class striker known for scoring countless overhead kicks throughout his career.

“I can’t believe it, to be honest,” United’s number 17 stated after the game at Goodison Park. “I didn’t notice my score and I just listened to the crowd and said, ‘Oh my gosh’.”

This is the first time a United player has won the award since it was established in 2016/17.

Garnacho’s goal outperformed efforts from Manchester United teammates Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Kobbie Mainoo, Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, Brentford’s Saman Ghoddos, Liverpool’s Alexis MacAllister, Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.

Garnacho received the individual award after playing a key role in United’s 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

The quick winger took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Cityzens Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega to put his side ahead just over the half-hour mark. Only eight minutes later, fellow teenage star Kobbie Mainoo extended the lead with a brilliant finish off captain Fernandes’ service.

It’s Erik ten Hag’s second trophy at Old Trafford. However, rumors persist that United would fire him regardless of the outcome at Wembley.
