Álvaro Morata | Atlético Madrid reports that the forward has a bone contusion and a sprained internal lateral ligament in his right knee.
Álvaro Morata hurt his knee in a 1-0 loss to Sevilla and left the pitch in tears, thus he will most likely miss the forthcoming Champions League games against Inter.
The Spanish forward was dragged off the pitch in minute 46, and Atletico Madrid reported on X, previously Twitter, that the ex-Juventus attacker had damaged his knee.
Morata exited the pitch in tears, surrounded by Atletico Madrid staff members.
He will have medical examinations in the next hours, but it appears unlikely that he will recuperate in time for Atletico Madrid’s Champions League Round of 16 match against Inter.
The second leg of Altetico Madrid’s Round of 16 will take place on March 13 in Madrid. The first match, however, will take place on February 20 at San Siro.
Morata has enjoyed a fantastic season, scoring 19 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions at club level.
Atletico Madrid won their Champions League group ahead of Lazio, while Inter finished second in Group D, trailing Real Sociedad of La Liga.
