Antony returned to Manchester earlier this week after staying in Brazil since the beginning of September, when he joined the national team only to be pulled when the charges surfaced.

According to reports, Antony is willing to give GMP his phone in order to assist them with their investigations.

However, earlier this month, it was reported that De Freitas’ case had been withdrawn at her request.

Manchester United have offered him a leave of absence, although he has not been suspended by the club.

Following his exclusion from Brazil’s national team squad ahead of the September international break, the winger gave a sad television interview in which he denied the claims.

‘I know the truth, and it will be revealed,’ he said. ‘I’m 100 per cent confident I never touched a woman and I’ll come up with the evidence. I’m confident I’ve never used physical violence.’

‘I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the charges made against me,’ Antony stated.

‘This was a collective decision to avoid distracting my teammates and causing unneeded controversy for the club.

‘I want to restate my innocence of the charges against me, and I will completely collaborate with the authorities to assist them find the truth. I hope to return to the field as soon as possible.’
