Asier Illarramendi set to leave Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad captain Asier Illarramendi’s second term with the club will come to an end at the conclusion of the season, according to the club.

Illarramendi came through the Zubieta system, making his debut in 2010, before joining Real Madrid in 2013. He returned to La Real after three years.

Despite missing time due to injuries, he has good records. The 33-year-old has made 251 appearances with La Real and claimed the Copa del Rey cup in 2021.

Asier Illarramendi has been with the senior team for almost a decade. It now appears that he will go on a high note, with Txuri-Urdin still in the Champions League. La Real are only three points away from qualifying for next season.

The deep-lying midfielder has been an integral part of La Real’s character, despite battling to secure a starting spot in recent years. It symbolizes a change of guard at La Real. Only David Silva (37) and Diego Rico (30) are in their thirties among Real Sociedad‘s full team.
