Atletico Madrid will wear a special edition blue and white kit to mark the club’s anniversary this evening. They will be playing against Real Mallorca at the Civitas Metropolitano.
Los Rojiblancos were formerly Los Blanquiazules, wearing a blue and white strip for the first eight years of their existence until 1911. It had the same colors and later changed as Athletic Club. It is because Atletico was founded by Basque students in Madrid.
On Wednesday, Atletico Madrid will turn 103 years old, and they have put together an outfit to honor their roots. The badge is going to be back to its original state.
The kit is one of several commemorative activities planned for the occasion, including events, music, and food throughout the Metropolitano ahead of the game, which begins at 19:30 CEST on Wednesday. Before the game, 60,000 red and white flags will be distributed in the stands.

“On the occasion of our 120th anniversary, our team will wear a blue and white kit. It inspired by the first Atlético de Madrid players in our history against Mallorca. Our members will be able to purchase it exclusively in our private shop for members for 24 hours. Get it right away!”
“On April 26th, we will celebrate our 120th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, we will release a kit inspired by the one we wore in the first match of our history, blue and white with the original club badge on the chest. We will wear this new kit against Mallorca in LaLiga this Wednesday, just as the first Atleti players did in their historic debut.”
“Our colors, red and white, would arrive in our kit in 1911, until which time we used the blue and white that we will defend again this Wednesday.”
“Our club founded on April 26, 1903 as a branch of Athletic Club by a group of Basque students. They used to live in Madrid and members of the Biscayan team, who wore blue and white at the time. Similar to this, our first crest, which we used until 1917, featured the initials AC intertwined in a belt around a football.
