Barcelona’s customary curtain-raiser will take place on Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. CEST (2 p.m. ET) at the Montjuic Olympic stadium in the city.

On Monday, the Catalan giants resumed preseason training and added two new players: Ilkay Gundogan and Iigo Martinez.

Barcelona has also agreed to sign Brazilian striker Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. According to ESPN he may not join the squad until January 2024.

During their summer tour in the United States, Barcelona will play four friendly, including a Clasico versus Real Madrid at Arlington, Texas on July 29.

Spurs will be Barcelona’s final opponents before they open their LaLiga championship defense against Getafe on August 13.

Barcelona will play its home games in the Montjuic Olympic Stadium in the 2023-24 season, with construction on the Spotify Camp Nou already underway.

Barcelona and Tottenham to Play in Pre-Season

The 58th Joan Gamper Trophy game will pit FC Barcelona against Tottenham Hotspur. The English side is hosting the first encounter for Xavi Hernández’s squad at the Estadi Olmpic Llus Companies.

The match will take place on 8 August at 8pm CEST, with the Premier League team led by Australian Ange Postecoglou serving as Barça’s final pre-season opponent before the start of the regular season on 13 August away at Getafe. Prior to the Gamper, Barça will have played four friendlies during their summer tour in the United States.

Barcelona vs Tottenham: The Gamper game makes a second appearance

The London club will compete in the Joan Gamper Trophy for the second time this year, joining Ipswich Town in 1981, Nottingham Forest in 1983, Manchester City in 1982 and 2009, Aston Villa in 1984, and Arsenal in 2019. Spurs will compete in the pre-season match for the second time, but it will be the first time they will meet Barça at the Gamper.

Tottenham initially competed in the event in 1986, with four clubs competing in two semi-finals and a final. PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands and AC Milan of Italy were also invited. The English squad fell on penalties to PSV following a 1-1 draw, while Barça defeated AC Milan 3-1 in the other semi-final. The blaugranes won the final, defeating their Dutch opponents 1-0.

Montjuc’s third Gamper game

For the third time, Montjuc will host the 58th Gamper game.

The match was played at the Estadi Olmpic Llus Companies in 1990 and 1996 because to a field change at Spotify Camp Nou, with Barça winning both occasions.
