Bayern Munich is stunned by Werder Bremen by 0-1.

In the title race, Bayern Munich trailed Bayer Leverkusen after suffering a crushing defeat. Thanks to a goal from Mitchell Weiser, Werder Bremen won at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich entered this game 12 places and 24 points ahead of their opponents, but Bremen gave everything they had throughout.

A few minutes later, Jens Stage found himself one-on-one with Manuel Neuer; the Germany captain was fortunate that the ball was blasted straight at him. Harry Kane had set up Leroy Sané for an early attempt at Michael Zetterer.

Sané saw another shot from the edge of the box go over the crossbar before Neuer made a fine save after Weiser’s shot deflected off Alphonso Davies.

Following Neuer’s goal, Justin Njinmah finished inside his near post to avoid the offside trap. However, a foul that was committed during the buildup that led to the goal was back.

Marco Fritz’s half-time whistle will have come as a relief to Bayern, but neither keeper faced much pressure after that.

Kane, who has 22 goals in the Bundesliga, had his first opportunity just minutes in. However, his shot from the edge of the box went harmlessly over.

Mitchell Weiser broke the deadlock by cutting inside Davies and shooting high past Neuer with his weaker left foot.

In response, Thomas Tuchel made three substitutions: Leon Goretzka, Mathys Tel, and Thomas Müller. Following Goretzka’s knock-on, Kane missed an opportunity to put Bayern within inches of equalizing.

Sané then tried his luck from range, but Zetterer saved and Bremen forced a corner that resulted in nothing.

A late Tel header off the post summed up Bayern’s afternoon, as Bremen held on for a memorable victory.
