Mexican Boxer, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez appeared to threaten Lionel Messi
Saul ‘Canelo’ lvarez, the Mexican Boxer has issued a warning to Argentine captain Lionel Messi, accusing him of disrespecting Mexico’s shirt during their victory on Saturday night.
Argentina defeated Mexico 2-0 in their FIFA 2022 World Cup Group C encounter in Qatar, with to goals from Messi and Enzo Fernandez.
According to video, Messi gently kicked a Mexican jersey traded with him on the floor during their dressing room celebration.
According to CNN, the Mexican boxer stated that Messi disrespected Mexico’s jersey and flag by wiping the floor with them.
“Did you notice Messi scrubbing the floor with our shirt and flag?” lvarez posted a tweet.
However, there was no evidence that Messi kicked the shirt on intentionally, instead appearing to do so accidentally as he removed his football boots.
“He’d best pray to God that I don’t find him!!” lvarez added another tweet with a sequence of angry emojis. “Just as I respect Argentina, he must respect Mexico!” I’m not referring to the country as a whole, just the nonsense Messi pulled.”
lvarez justified his dissatisfaction with Messi by saying, “It’s one thing for them to be better than us (in football), it’s another thing to have respect.”
Meanwhile, Messi’s former Argentina teammate Sergio Agüero responded to lvarez on Twitter, stating, “Mr Canelo, don’t look for excuses or problems, surely you don’t know about football and what happens in a changing room.”
