Following Scott Brown’s move to Aberdeen in 2021, the midfielder was granted the captaincy.
He is the third Celtic player to sign a new long-term contract, following striker Kyogo Furuhashi and winger Daizen Maeda.
“It’s incredible to be able to extend my stay at the club,” McGregor stated. As I’ve already indicated, this club means a lot to me, and our recent success just adds to that.
“I believe the club is in a good position to move forward as well.”
“When they approached me and asked me to extend my stay, I was overjoyed.”
“Brendan [Rodgers] is a great manager, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him before and seeing what he did with that group of players, especially a young, hungry group like ourselves, and how he progressed and took us on.”
“His personality around the building gives the building another lift, so the club is in a really strong position.”
“We did some great work over the last couple of years.”
“But it’s critical that we bank that and keep moving forward because in football, you always have to keep progressing and getting better.”
“I just want it to last as long as possible.” I’ve already spoken about the faith that the players at this club have placed in me, and I want to reciprocate that every time I step onto the field. They’ve been fantastic for both me and my family. It has provided me with a beautiful life and some incredible memories.
