Casemiro from Brazil regrets joining Manchester United during the club’s ongoing struggles.

Casemiro regrets joining Manchester United

The Brazilian midfielder for Manchester United, seems to be rethinking his decision to join the team.

Casemiro had a successful nine-year career with Real Madrid, where he was a key member of a high-profile midfield alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Casemiro’s trophy-laden Real Madrid career came to an end last summer when he joined Manchester United for £70 million.

Los Blancos won three La Liga championships and five UEFA Champions League trophies as a result of the trio’s potent midfield partnership.

Before the 2022–23 season began, Casemiro’s presence at Manchester United had a significant impact, helping Erik ten Hag improve the team by bringing much-needed structure, balance, and control.

By winning the EFL Cup, making it to the FA Cup final, and finishing in the top three of the Premier League in Casemiro’s debut season, Manchester United ended a six-year trophy drought.

Casemiro reveals his thoughts about Manchester United

The 31-year-old midfielder played 51 competitive matches for Manchester United during the 2022–23 season, making seven goals and seven assists.

However, Casemiro’s form has dipped this season, creating doubts about his status in Ten Hag’s squad.

The rivalry for midfield positions has only grown after Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount joined this summer. Kobbie Mainoo will also play once his injury layoff is over.

Manchester United have lost four of their nine league games this season, and Spanish media site El Nacional has stated that Casemiro is now regretting his decision from Real Madrid a year ago.

Despite this, the Brazilian player texted his agent prior of his move to Manchester United, after the Red Devils suffered a four-goal setback against Brentford in August 2022, stating, “Tell them I’ll fix this.”

After the humiliating defeat at the hands of Brentford, Casemiro called Manchester United’s football director, John Murtough. The call was not to tell Murtough that he was reconsidering leaving Real Madrid, but to reassure him that he couldn’t wait to get started in Manchester.

Casemiro signed a long-term contract with Manchester United earlier this year. With a one-year option, the Brazilian midfielder’s current Manchester United deal runs through 2026. “Case[miro] has agreed to a four-year extension.”
“He’s come to win titles; this month has been difficult, but he has nothing else on his mind,” said Casemiro’s agent, Oscar Ribot, in a recent interview.

Due to an ankle injury sustained on international duty earlier this month, the Brazil international missed Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League win over Sheffield United on Saturday.

He will try to return to the team as soon as possible, but will be suspended for the midweek match against Copenhagen.
