Cesar Azpilicueta left Chelsea after 11 years

Azpilicueta’s stint at Chelsea has come to an end after 11 years and nine titles. After won the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup, FA Cup, Club World Cup, and Europa League during his tenure in west London, the defender departs as a real club icon.

“Cesar leaves an indelible mark at Chelsea as a warrior, a champion, and a devoted Chelsea legend.” “He has set the club’s standards for more than a decade and demonstrated to everyone what is required day in and day out to achieve success,” Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said in a joint statement. “Coaches and teammates from the past and present have relied on him to set a good example as captain.” He has performed admirably both on and off the field, for which we are thankful. Cesar will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge for that and so much more.”

Azpilicueta also posted a greeting to his followers on social media, concluding with his famed moniker. “Dave, your captain Cesar Azpilicueta.”

“This is without a doubt the most difficult letter I have ever had to write,” he said.

“But I wanted to be the one to share this with you: after 11 incredible seasons proudly flying the blue flag, the time has come for me to leave Chelsea FC.”

“Our journey together began on August 24, 2012, when, after waiting impatiently to travel to London, my first day as a Chelsea player became a reality.” I felt totally at home the instant I put on the blue shirt.

I’ll never forget the butterflies in my stomach as I glanced at all the medals and successful moments displayed on the training ground’s wall, a success that a young “Azpi” wished to mimic. I never anticipated I’d be here today after 508 appearances, 9 trophies, and being your captain.

Adriana and I arrived in London as a young couple and are leaving as a family of five, with our children born and reared in the UK.
“Our love for the city and the club will last forever.”

Azpilicueta will decide to join Atletico Madrid on a two-year contract in La Liga.
