Christopher Nkunku joins Chelsea FC

Nkunku will join Chelsea from RB Leipzig for the 2023/24 season, the club has announced.

The 25-year-old, who has ten caps for France, has signed to a six-year contract that will begin on July 1.

‘I am overjoyed to be joining Chelsea,’ Nkunku stated.
‘A significant effort was made to get me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can accomplish on the football.

‘After playing in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, which is one of the greatest leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to this challenge and will be honored to wear the Chelsea shirt.’

Christopher Nkunku joins the Blues from RB Leipzig

Nkunku attended the renowned French national football academy at Clairefontaine and began his professional career with Paris Saint-Germain. Before joining RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019, he made 78 first-team appearances and was a member of three Ligue 1 titles and two Coupe de France successes.

Nkunku established himself as one of the best attackers in European football during his time in Germany. During the 2021/22 season, he scored 35 goals in all competitions and was crowned Bundesliga Player of the Season as well as German PFA Player of the Season. In addition, the DFB-Pokal was won.

This season, the dynamic striker scored 23 goals to help Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga and retain the DFB-Pokal.
