Cristian Stellini fired by Tottenham Hotspur after his team loss to Newcastle United by 6-1 on Sunday.

Cristian Stellini sacked by Spurs

Tottenham have fired acting head coach Cristian Stellini. Spurs replaced him with Ryan Mason following the club’s 6-1 loss to top-four rivals Newcastle.

When Antonio Conte left the club at the end of March, the Italian stepped up from his role as assistant head coach to replace him until the end of the season, but results have not improved, with Spurs six points adrift of the Champions League places.

Mason, 31, will take over for the second time after serving as interim head coach following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in 2021.

“Sunday’s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable,” said chairman Daniel Levy in a statement. It was heartbreaking to witness. We can look at many reasons why this happened, and while I, the board, the coaches, and the players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the blame falls on my shoulders.

“Cristian and his coaching staff will leave their current positions.” Cristian stepped in during a difficult period in our season, and I want to thank him for the professionalism with which he and his coaching staff handled themselves during such a difficult time. We wish him and his team the best of luck.

“Ryan Mason will take over as head coach immediately.” Ryan is very familiar with the club and its players. In due course, we will provide an update on his coaching staff.

“I met with the player committee today; The group is eagerly cooperating so they can have the best possible season’s end.We all agree that we need to put on shows deserving of your incredible support.

Cristian Stellini fired by Tottenham Hotspur after Poor Results

Tottenham are fifth in the table, six points behind third-placed Newcastle United.

Stellini made the switch to a back four for Spurs’ trip to top-four rivals Newcastle on Sunday. His team conceded five goals in the first 21 minutes.

The first 25 minutes of the game were the worst he had ever seen in football. He took responsibility for the result after the game.
