Ronaldo says he feels ‘betrayed’ and has ‘no respect’ for Erik ten Hag
Cristiano Ronaldo claims Manchester United “betrayed” him by attempting to force him out of the club, and he has “no respect” for boss Erik ten Hag because he “doesn’t show respect for me.” He also added, “If you don’t respect me, you’ll never have respect from me.”
Ronaldo and his agents were actively seeking a move away from Old Trafford in the summer, but the Portugal star insists it was United and Ten Hag who drove him out. “Manchester United tried to get rid of me,” he stated.
“Not only the manager, but also the other two or three senior executives that work at the club. I felt duped. I don’t care; people need to hear the truth. Yes, I did feel betrayed. Some people didn’t want me here, not just this year, but also previous season.”
During the interview, Ronaldo also claimed to have “never heard of” Rangnick prior to his appointment as caretaker coach last season, and he accused United of failing to progress between his departure from Real Madrid in 2009 and his return to the club in 2021.
