DIMITRI PAYET SAYS HE WANTS TO FINISH HIS CAREER AT MARSEILLE

The 35 years old midfielder, Dimitri Payet stated that he wants to finish his career with Olympique de Marseille.

Payet returned to Marseille in 2017 after spending a season and a half with West Ham United. The former France international has a contract with the club until 2024 and has no plans to leave. Payet, who has made 314 appearances for Les Phocéens, scoring 76 goals and registering 95 assists, plans to finish his career at the Orange Vélodrome.

“I don’t want to go. I’d like to stay and finish this chapter here. “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said. Payet, who has 38 caps for Les Bleus, was asked about a possible early retirement before his contract expires in 2024. “Only my body can decide whether or not I continue,” he replied. I’ll discuss it with the Marseille board at that point.”

Payet had struggled to break into Igor Tudor’s Marseille team at the start of the season, with reports claiming he returned to pre-season overweight. On the other hand, he has appeared more frequently since August, and started and captained Marseille to a comfortable 6-1 win over Toulouse on Thursday.
