Eric Dier will join Bayern Munich in a €4 million deal.
According to ESPN, Bayern Munich is set to sign Tottenham defender in a deal worth around €4 million ($4.3 million).
After personal terms were agreed upon, the 29-year-old arrived in Germany on Thursday morning for a medical.
Bayern was interested in signing Radu Drăgușin and made a bid that was comparable to Spurs’ bid of around €30 million, but the Genoa defender chose to move to north London, forcing the Bundesliga club to look for other options.
Dier’s contract with Tottenham expires this summer, and head coach Ange Postecoglou deemed him surplus to requirements.
Despite the absence of centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero for extended periods of the season, Postecoglou preferred to use full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal at the heart of his defense.
As a result, Eric Dier has only started one game this season, a 2-1 defeat at Wolves in November, and has made four appearances in total.
Davies was injured in Tottenham’s 1-0 FA Cup third-round win over Burnley last Friday, and Postecoglou responded, “Yes.”
West Ham was one of several clubs interested in Dier. However, the terms were quickly agreed upon with Bayern once their interest was formalized.

Dier joined Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon in August 2014 for £4 million and has made 365 appearances for the club. He has also received 49 England caps.
Dier will be joined at the Allianz Arena by former Tottenham teammate Harry Kane, who moved to Munich last summer.
