Manchester United wishes to retain Marcel Sabitzer, who is still FC Bayern Munich player. Bayern Munich would most likely demand around £25 million.

Munich will demand around 25 million pounds for the Austrian national team midfielder at the end of the season.

On the final day of the winter transfer window, the Mancunians signed Sabitzer on loan.

The midfielder scored three goals and provided one assist in 13 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions this season.

Erik ten Hag on the midfielder’s situation at United

This summer, Erik ten Hag reportedly wants to bring Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United. But Bayern Munich is rumored to be “bullish” in negotiations.

The news that Christian Eriksen would be out for a few months led to the loan signing of Sabitzer during the winter transfer window.

This was accomplished by Manchester United in an uncharacteristically quick manner before the transfer window closed, and it has turned out to be wise business.

The 29-year-old was only a minor contributor for Bayern Munich, But he has three goals and one assist in 13 appearances for Manchester United.

United’s loan agreement does not include a buy option, so they will have to negotiate a fee with Bayern Munich.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that there are two main factors that may affect Manchester United’s summer spending plan.

‘Erik ten Hag would love to keep the Austrian and thus strengthen his midfield, even though his number one priority is to land a traditional forward, with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen two names on a ‘longlist’ of strikers at this stage,’ Jacobs wrote for Caught Offside.

‘A lot of how Manchester United moves, and how much financial muscle they have, will be determined by whether they secure Champions League football, which they are on track to do, and whether a new outright owner comes in. The final-offer deadline of April 28 is critical to understanding the Glazers’ true intentions.’

Bayern Munich, according to Jacobs, “expect around £25 million” for Sabitzer this summer. On the other side, Manchester United “see this as too high.”

‘Bayern are happy to let Sabitzer go, but given his form at Old Trafford, expect around £25 million. Manchester United believe this is too much for the 29-year-old, but he is under contract with Bayern until 2025, allowing Bayern to be more aggressive in negotiations. Jacobs went on to say.

Perhaps there is some game playing going on. Sabitzer was struggling for minutes at Bayern before his loan. But now the German champions want nearly twice what Leipzig paid for him in 2021.

‘Sabitzer’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has stated that his client is content in Manchester. There is a willingness to make the move permanent, so it all comes down to money.

‘From what I understand, Manchester United do not want to overpay. Especially with other targets requiring budget allocation, but Sabitzer is a player they would like to keep.
