According to the Sun, England international center-back Harry Maguire is requesting a £15 million pay-off from Manchester United in order to join West Ham United.

The Hammers and Red Devils have negotiated a £30 million transfer fee for the 30-year-old. The transfer, however, became late due to personal concerns.

Maguire wants an additional £9 million, and while Man United has given him £6 million to leave, it is unclear if they will meet those demands.

West Ham can only afford to pay the Englishman £120,000 a week, which is £70,000 less than his present salary with the Red Devils.

The two years remaining on his Manchester United deal are worth £19.7 million, and he believes a £6 million pay-off is insufficient.

The deal to West Ham is in jeopardy since the club is already looking at alternative options as manager David Moyes tries to bolster his defense.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag stated that Maguire still has a chance to break into the starting XI, but he left the former Leicester City star on the bench for their Premier League opening against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez started the game at Old Trafford, with Victor Lindelof coming on in the second half to replace the Argentine.

The writing has been on the wall for Maguire since he was stripped of captaincy, but he is not eager to quit the club without receiving the severance package he believes he is due.

Man United are already planning for his likely departure, with Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and many other centre-backs on their radar as prospective replacements.

However, they will need to boost their pay-off in order to persuade Maguire to leave, and it will be intriguing to see what happens in the coming weeks.
