James Maddison set to return ahead of Liverpool Clash

James Maddison likely to be available for Saturday’s Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

The forward has been in excellent form for Spurs this season. He has scored two goals and assisting four times in seven games across all competitions.

Last weekend in the North London derby, Maddison assisted on both of Tottenham’s goals against Arsenal. However, he had to leave the game late at the Emirates Stadium due to a knee injury.

The impact on the attacker’s knee joint caused severe concern at first, but Maddison was able to return to his feet and complete the match shortly after.

According to football.london, the former Leicester City playmaker has been practicing on grass this week, fueling speculation that he will be eligible for Liverpool’s encounter.

“I had a little moment when I tackled Jorginho where I jolted my knee a little bit,” Maddison said.

“I had to come off for the last little while,” the player said.
He further stated, “because you never want to be playing in a derby where you are not at 100 percent because it can cost the team.”

James Maddison will be returning for Tottenham’s match against Liverpool

Maddison is thought to have undergone a knee scan this week. It has indicated no structural damage, he was able to play against Liverpool.

This season, the Englishman has scored against Bournemouth and Burnley in the Premier League, as well as giving two assists in each matches against Brentford and Arsenal.

Tottenham have been in excellent form this season under Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou has had an immediate impression as head coach since taking over in the summer.

Spurs lost on penalties to Fulham in the EFL Cup at the end of August. However, they are unbeaten in the league, with 14 points from six games, putting them in fourth place.

Tottenham will face Liverpool in North London on Saturday before traveling to Luton Town for their final game before the October international break.

Spurs have no European play this season and were knocked out of the League Cup last month, so the capital club only has the league to worry about before starting their FA Cup campaign in January.
