Jeremy Doku: Man City agree to sign Rennes Winger

According to ESPN, Manchester City and Rennes have reached an agreement for winger Jérémy Doku.

City has agreed to pay €65 million ($71 million) for the forward, who will now undergo a medical in Manchester.

The 21-year-old will replace Riyad Mahrez, who went to Al Ahli earlier this summer, at the Etihad Stadium.

Doku, the club’s third acquisition of the summer following Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol, has scored 12 goals in 91 games for Rennes since joining from Anderlecht in 2020. He was included in the team for the 2022 World Cup and has 14 Belgium caps, scoring twice.

After signing Doku, City will look for a midfielder to fill the vacuum created by Kevin De Bruyne. After undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury, the 32-year-old has been ruled out till the new year.

City have shown an interest in West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá, but talks have been halted following the initiation of a betting inquiry against the 25-year-old Brazilian international.

Meanwhile, talks with Barcelona over a move for Joo Cancelo are underway. The full-back is anticipated to join on loan with the option of becoming a permanent signing next summer.

Aymeric Laporte is also on his way to Al Nassr after the Saudi Pro League club agreed a price with City. Both Laporte and Cancelo were left out of the team for Saturday’s 1-0 triumph over Newcastle United.
