Jesse Lingard appears to be returning to football after reportedly signing a shock contract with South Korean team FC Seoul.

Jesse Lingard 'shock move' to K-League?

Lingard has been a free agent since leaving Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of last season, so he is not constrained by Thursday’s transfer deadline, and the move is anticipated to be finalized in the coming days.

Lingard sent a positive message on Instagram last month. He has been connected to a move to the Major League Soccer team Portland Timbers.

Lingard posted a selfie of himself on the training field, along with the remark, ‘My attention is different. My time is being put in development. I don’t expect anyone to grasp what I’m up to. Eventually, they will.

The caption on the total post read, ‘High vibes and good energy only!’

During his brief tenure with Forest, he appeared in 20 games and scored two goals.

Lingard had a fantastic loan spell with West Ham in 2021. He scored nine goals in 16 games before joining the City Ground.

Lingard won the Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup with Manchester United. He played 232 first-team games after rising through the ranks with the Red Devils.

He has also been awarded 32 England caps, the most recent of which came in 2021.

Recently, United icon Paul Scholes poked fun at Lingard in his Instagram comments after the winger shared multiple photos of himself working out in the gym.

Scholes replied, “Are you just gonna f*** around in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?” The former midfielder commented to another image of Lingard practicing on a pitch, adding, ‘There we go Jess…a ball.’

Jesse Lingard analyzes offer from FC Seoul as K-League side proposes two-year deal

Former Manchester United and England player Jesse Lingard is presently considering an enticing offer from South Korean club FC Seoul.

Lingard has been unattached since leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of the previous season and is considering his next professional move.

FC Seoul of the K-League has offered Lingard a two-year contract with an appealing compensation package, prompting serious consideration from the experienced soccer player.

Lingard, who recently trained with West Ham and had sessions with Saudi side Al-Ettifaq earlier in the season, is considering his options.

According to sources acquainted with the K-League deal, Lingard is expected to arrive in South Korea next Monday.

When he arrives, he will have a thorough medical test with FC Seoul before potentially sealing the agreement.

Lingard is expected to join the team for a training mission in Kagoshima, Japan, beginning on February 4.

Seoul FC head coach Kim Gi-dong voiced his initial skepticism about the potential deal, saying, “I heard about it two to three weeks ago and thought it was unrealistic.”

“I asked our director of football about it and he replied to me yes it’s true we are in contact with the player but the deal is not confirmed yet.”

“Of sure, if he arrives, it will benefit K-league by attracting more overseas fans. And if he returns after a long absence, we should give him time to acclimate rather than expecting rapid results.
