Joao Cancelo set to leave Manchester City

Joao Cancelo is leaving Manchester City this summer. Both the player and the club are seeking for the best option, which is another incentive for City to try to extend Walker’s contract. According to FFP, Barcelona is the most interested club in Cancelo.

After lately battling for game time under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo is garnering interest from rival teams.

Cancelo seems to have an unclear future at Manchester City. The defender has only started once since the World Cup, which has generated interest from teams around Europe. Champions League teams in Italy, Spain, Germany, and Italy are all monitoring his status. They all may make a move during the summer transfer window.

After a poor start, the 28-year-old has emerged as a crucial player for City since joining from Juventus in 2019, but he is presently having a difficult time with the Premier League winners. Guardiola has put his faith in 18-year-old Rico Lewis, and the teenager has repaid him with some great displays.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola praised Lewis’ performance against Liverpool. He said “he changed the game” when he came in at halftime in the team’s triumph over Chelsea.

Cancelo is under contract with Man City until 2027 and has stated that he intends to stay for a long time. It remains to be seen, though, if that will still be the case at the conclusion of the season if he continues to spend more time on the bench than in the starting XI.
