Jonjo Shelvey may make his Nottingham Forest debut against Fulham on Saturday.
The 30-year-old joined on deadline day from Newcastle, where he spent seven seasons, but with a calf injury.
Jonjo Shelvey didn’t participate in the victory against Leeds last Saturday. He trained this week and might make the trip to Craven Cottage.
“He’s near, we’re thankful to Newcastle for the information they’ve provided us about his injury, which is usual,” stated manager Steve Cooper.
“When a player signs, it’s customary for you to provide some statistics or information to help the athlete transition to their new club.
“We’re happy that he’s close by after seeing him on the field.
“He has proven his worth, and he looks to be happy to be here. As with any new player, the sooner you get them training and playing. As result, the sooner they’ll settle in and reveal their true colors.
“Jonjo has Premier League experience and is a well-known player. “But he seems to get into, as soon as possible and prove his talent.”
“I’m happy he’s here, and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Forest suffered no fresh injuries in their 1-0 win over Leeds, moving them farther away from relegation danger.
“The rest is how it was, the lads are hurt and in rehab. There are a few minor tasks that must go through.” “But each group will be the same, and we will proceed with our job.”
Jonjo Shelvey to Nottingham Forest
Signing deadline day Jonjo Shelvey has already made an impact as he prepares to make his Nottingham Forest debut.
The midfielder joined the Reds from Newcastle United last week, having completed the transfer while recuperating from a calf injury. He did not play in last weekend’s 1-0 win against Leeds United at the City Ground, but he is thought to be “near” to returning for Saturday’s trip to Fulham.
Shelvey has already piqued the interest of his new colleagues on the training field. And head coach Steve Cooper has expressed gratitude to the 30-year-previous old’s club for the information they provided when he put pen to paper.
