Henderson reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Ajax after convincing Al-Ettifaq to let him leave.

Despite only signing for Al-Ettifaq for £12 million in the summer of 2023, he wishes to depart the Middle East.

As the midfielder’s family settles into their new surroundings, it appears that his wife played a role in his decision to leave Saudi Arabia.

According to The Atheltic, Henderson has been able to talk his way out of Al-Ettifaq Club. His representatives are negotiating with the club to end his three-year contract early.

The Saudi Pro League team was adamant about keeping him and had no intention of meeting his demands.

However, they have finally softened their stance, allowing Henderson to make a permanent transfer. The playmaker is already on his way back to England after agreeing in principle to join the Eredivisie club, and after completing the necessary paperwork and medical, Henderson will be introduced as a new Ajax player.

Henderson has made 17 appearances in the Saudi Pro League and contributed four assists under former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard. He has struggled to make an impact as results have deteriorated, and Al-Ettifaq is now in eighth place with only 25 points from 19 matches.
