Josko Gvardiol nearing to join Manchester City

Manchester City are nearing an agreement to sign RB Leipzig center-back Josko Gvardiol.

The clubs have agreed on a fee of £77.6 million (€90 million).

Manchester City are likely to complete a world record deal for defender Josko Gvardiol by the end of the week.

Over the past year, the Croatian international was relating with several elite European teams. But Manchester City appears to be the team to sign him.

Fabrizio Romano claims that an agreement worth £86 million (€90 million/$98 million), including add-ons, has been concluded. Gvardiol is likely to undergo a medical on Friday at the Etihad Stadium.

Gvardiol will become the most expensive defender in football history, shattering Manchester United’s record £80 million (€87 million/$96 million) transfer fee paid to Leicester City for Harry Maguire in 2019.

It’s a significant addition to a Manchester City defense that was already the joint-best in the Premier League last season (with only 33 goals conceded, alongside Newcastle United).

Josko Gvardiol likely to join Man City very soon

Gvardiol will join Croatian fellow Kovacic in Manchester, following his £25 million (€29 million/$32 million) move from Chelsea this summer.

According to Kovacic, Gvardiol is “ready” for the transfer to City. Kovacic has backed him to be the “best version of himself.”

Manchester City are definitely not content with their fifth Premier League triumph in the last six seasons.

The acquisition of Kovacic to the squad is significant, and Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Gvardiol isn’t the last player to arrive this summer as he attempts to replace the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan.

Man City and RB Leipzig have agreed a fee of £77.6 million (€90 million) for centre-back Josko Gvardiol; the 21-year-old Croatia international was a transfer target for both Chelsea and Tottenham last year.
