Koke, an Atletico Madrid midfielder, has stated his desire to conclude his career at Wanda Metropolitano.
The 31-year-old has been with Atletico since 2000, working his way through the club’s various age levels until making his first-team debut in 2009.
The Spain international has gone on to make 587 appearances in all competitions for the Red and Whites, scoring 47 goals and registering 111 assists.
Koke was once again an important player for Diego Simeone’s team during the 2022-23 season, appearing in 42 games across all competitions, including 33 in Spain’s top division.
However, suspicion has surrounded his long-term future with Atletico, since the Spaniard’s contract at Wanda Metropolitano expires in 11 months.
Koke wants to play for Atletico Madrid Forever
Koke will be in his 13th season with Atletico Madrid’s first squad in 2023-24. The 31-year-old, who is now club captain, has been a part of an unprecedented degree of success throughout that time, which he hopes to build on in the coming years.
Koke revealed the club’s goals for the upcoming season to El Larguero (via Diario AS) during Atletico’s pre-season training camp in Mexico.
“Of course, the club’s ultimate goal is to qualify for the Champions League.” It provides stability and financial assistance. We must be demanding and want more, while remaining realistic in the knowledge that Real Madrid and Barcelona are one step ahead.”
Koke, whose contract at Atletico expires in less than a year, spoke about his current situation with Los Colchoneros.
“I’ve always said I’d like to finish my career at Atletico.” I will listen to the club (in terms of contract negotiations), but my goal has always been to end here.”
Koke will almost certainly be a key member of Diego Simeone’s squad for the upcoming season, and he will be hoping to lead Atletico Madrid to another victorious campaign.
