Lamine Yamal was reportedly close to agreeing to a professional contract with Barcelona yesterday.
Today, the youngster has signed a long-term professional deal with Barcelona after turning 16 years old. According to Fabrizio Romano, the new three-year agreement will remain in effect until June 2026.
Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has an arrangement with Barcelona, according to the Italian journalist. The agreement might be finalized shortly, marking a significant step forward for the club as it looks to rebuild its team ahead of the upcoming season.

Yamal has demonstrated tremendous promise throughout his tenure at the club. After making his debut against Real Betis at the end of the previous season, he became the club’s youngest player ever. His rapid pace, along with his dribbling abilities, immediately aroused heads.
As Barcelona looks to unload Ferran Torres, having someone like Yamal on the team might be crucial for coach Xavi.
So far in his young career, the 16-year-old has showed a lot of promise. Therefore, he may become a practical attacking option for Xavi the next season, possibly taking the place of Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, or Fati on the flanks.
Due to Barcelona’s rather underwhelming season last year, Torres’ future is still uncertain. On the other hand, Dembele is negotiating a new contract with the club. This summer, he is in link with a transfer away from the club.
Yamal, who has the talent to flourish at Barcelona, can provide the creative spark in the last third. However, before becoming a first-team regular, the kid must first show himself at the top level.
For the time being, Yamal will play for the first team but will also play for Barça Atletic when he is not in the first squad.
