Manchester United CF made a shortlist to 'replace' Maguire

The England center-back is negotiating personal terms with West Ham United ahead of a projected £30 million move after falling down the pecking order and losing his captaincy at Old Trafford.

Erik Ten Hag also have interest in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

The Dutchman may also turn to Jonny Evans and offer the returning Northern Irishman a longer-term contract after initially signing him only to play in pre-season.

David Moyes is a great fan of Maguire. But the finer details of his personal arrangements must now be worked out, with a potential £6m-£10m pay-off required from United to complete the deal.

West Ham did make a proposal for Scott McTominay, but after their £30 million approach was rejected, they look to have moved their focus to Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, who was never going to stay at St Mary’s after relegation to the Championship.

Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina has been named as United’s next midfield target, with Fred and Donny van de Beek also garnering interest this summer window.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News reports that United have already begun planning for prospective additions for next summer, with Ten Hag looking for players with less than a year left on their contracts.

Victor Osimhen and Jeremie Frimpong, two players Ten Hag has long admired, fall into that category, with contracts at Napoli and Leverkusen expiring in the summer of 2025.

Manchester United FC seeks immediate replacement for Harry Maguire as the captain is leaving the club very soon.
