Manchester Utd have finalized the acquisition of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana for £47.2 million.
Manchester United have finalized the signing of Inter Milan’s Andre Onana. The deal is finalized at €51 million (£43.9 million, $57.4 million) plus €4 million in add-ons.
The 27-year-old has signed a five-year deal with United. He has also an extra year’s option, after previously reaching personal terms with the Old Trafford club.
Onana’s pay negotiations broke down on Saturday and were finalized the next day. On Monday night, United and Inter agreed on a final price, including incentives and payment arrangements.
He’ll join the rest of Erik ten Hag’s side in the United States tonight after facing Lyon in Edinburgh.
Onana was eager to reunite with Ten Hag at Old Trafford after spending time with him at Ajax.

Following David de Gea’s departure after 12 years at the club, United increased their chase of the former Cameroon international. The departure of the Spaniard came to pass earlier this month.

With his track record of success, we are certain that Andre will contribute to the winning mindset we are cultivating among our group. He is already one of the world’s greatest goalkeepers at the age of 27, and we are certain that he can improve much more in the future years.”
After coming through the Barcelona junior systems, Onana began his professional career at Ajax, capturing the eye in the Eredivisie with his passing range and composure with the ball at his feet.
Those abilities were on show during Inter’s march to the Champions League final last season, which they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.
Ten Hag is also searching for a striker this summer, and talks regarding a potential move involving Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta have already begun. However, United is hoping to unload some players to raise money for their recruitment drive.
