Marcus Rashford | Manchester United will reportedly fine the English Forward two weeks’ pay for his unauthorised nightclub visit last week.

Marcus Rashford will receive a two-week pay fine

The forward was notably absent from the squad as United defeated Newport County 4-2 in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday evening.

In the days leading up to the game in South Wales, it was reported that the England international had flown to Belfast during a scheduled break.

While going out socially on Wednesday evening was permitted, the 26-year-old was scheduled to report to training on Friday morning.

That did not happen; Rashford claimed to have informed United staff that he was ill, which head coach Erik ten Hag relayed to reporters.

On Thursday, Rashford supposedly told United that he had stayed an extra night in Belfast. However, this was later claimed to have occurred.

When asked about the situation on Sunday, Ten Hag said, “So he reported ill; the rest is an internal matter that I deal with.” As I previously stated, this is an internal matter.

“For you (there are more questions than answers), but not for me. It’s an internal matter; I’ll handle it.”

Marcus Rashford is in trouble at Manchester United and may face disciplinary action

According to The Sun, United will respond by fining Rashford a total of two weeks’ wages, which is approximately £650,000.

This is the second incident of this nature in as many months, with Ten Hag previously criticising Rashford for attending a pre-arranged birthday party following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on October 29.

Rashford has recently enjoyed his best run of form in 2023-24, scoring or assisting in his last four appearances across all competitions.

However, it is unclear whether Rashford will return to the squad for Thursday’s Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Rashford was dropped to the substitutes’ bench for last season’s corresponding fixture on New Year’s Eve due to a timekeeping error, but he was later introduced as a replacement and scored the game’s winning goal.
