The West Midlands club has been attempting to bolster its attacking ranks throughout January in order to remain competitive at the top of the Premier League table.

Unai Emery’s side has only one win in five games after losing 3-1 to Newcastle United on Tuesday, and they are now fifth in the standings.

Rogers is now Villa’s main target for the month, despite Middlesbrough rejecting multiple bids from Villa.

While the fee has not been officially revealed, it is believed to be in the region of £15 million, with Boro opting to cash in on a player they only signed from Manchester City last summer.

Rogers struggled to make an impact on loan with Lincoln City and Blackpool, but the England Under-20 international was a revelation during his brief spell at the Riverside Stadium.

Rogers led Boro to the EFL Cup semi-finals, where they lost to Chelsea, with five goals and three assists in just six appearances.

Despite only two goals and six assists from 26 Championship appearances, Rogers demonstrated his talent with a long-range strike against Chelsea in between bids rejected by the North-East club.

The player is no stranger to the West Midlands, having spent time in the West Bromwich Albion academy before joining Manchester City (who will receive a sell-on clause) in 2019.

At Villa, Morgan Rogers is wearing shirt number 27. He will be in contention to make his Premier League debut against Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
