Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg confirms his stay at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has confirmed that he will remain with Ange Postecoglou’s side after Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The 28-year-old was linked with a move away from Tottenham last summer, and there has been renewed speculation about his future during the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, Hojbjerg’s lawyer, Lars Halgreen, stated that his client would not be leaving Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite widespread speculation.

The Denmark international has now stated that there is no chance he will leave the North London club, with the midfielder set to finish the season with Spurs.

“When the lawyer says it, I think we should listen! “So, yes, I can confirm that,” he told The Athletic.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made 24 appearances for Spurs in the 2023-24 season, including 21 in the Premier League.

The midfielder is not first choice in the middle. He has only made the first XI five times in England’s Premier League this season.

Hojbjerg’s future is likely to be the subject of speculation during this summer’s transfer window, as his contract expires in June 2025.

However, the Dane is confident that he can still play an important role for Postecoglou’s side in the second half of the 2023-24 season, as the team strives for a Champions League finish.

“I definitely feel I can help the team,” he said. “What matters is that we’re playing for something. I’ve always said, and continue to say, that what motivates me is the desire to fight for something, and I believe Tottenham is fighting for something.”

During the winter transfer window, Ajax, Juventus, and Lyon are likely to make bid in signing him.

Perrie-Emile Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Southampton in the summer of 2020, and he has made 169 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and assisting 16 times.

The midfielder came off the bench against Brentford on Thursday evening, helping Spurs to a 3-2 victory that moved the capital club into fourth place in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are reportedly competing with Barcelona to sign in-demand teenager Lucas Bergvall.
