The 33-year-old has been a dedicated servant to Los Blancos. Since progressing through the youth systems, he has made 44 appearances in all competitions for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Nacho struggled to make an impact on a consistent basis, starting 18 La Liga games and four Champions League games.

However, the Spaniard’s flexibility came in useful as he played in the center of defense as well as on both sides in 2022-23, scoring one goal and setting up another in the Spanish top division.

Nacho’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month. The Premier League has been mentioned as a possible destination for the former Castilla youngster. Nacho is also thought to have piqued the interest of Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite interest from the West Midlands, Nacho has previously told RTVE that he will extend his contract with Real Madrid. The contract will keep him at the club for another year.

“There are always opportunities, but I’ve decided to stay another year.”
“I’m happy about it, and I’m looking forward to continuing,” the defender stated, but his future after 2024 is unknown.

Nacho Fernandez will be in Santiago for a year

Nacho joined Real Madrid’s junior program when he was 11 years old. He has since made 319 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions. He made 16 goals and setting up nine more.

The defender has a dazzling trophy cabinet to show for his time at Real Madrid, having won 23 major trophies in white, including five Champions League titles between 2014 and 2022.

During his time with Los Blancos he has good records of titles winning.

  • Five Club World Cups
  • Three La Liga crowns
  • Two Copa del Reys
  • Four Spanish Super Cups
  • Four UEFA Super Cups

Ancelotti has lost Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad. As well as he lost Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz from the squad.

At the end of the month, the contracts of the midfield trio of Dani Ceballos, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric expire. However, it’s probable that all three of them get conditions to stay in the Spanish city.

Kroos’ contract will be extended shortly, but there are already suspicions that Modric may reject an extension and move to Saudi Arabia, as Los Blancos prepare for the arrival of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

Following the return of Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano, Bellingham is expected to become Real’s second acquisition of the summer window, while Brahim Diaz will also be a part of the first-team setup next season after spending three seasons on loan at AC Milan.
