Nuno Espirito Santo has been named as the new head coach of Nottingham Forest.

Less than 24 hours have passed since Steve Cooper, the 49-year-old, left the Reds after two unforgettable seasons in charge.

Cooper successfully led Forest back into the Premier League through the Championship playoffs in 2021-22, then kept the club in the top flight with a 16th-place finish last season.

Cooper, on the other hand, has only won one of his last 13 Premier League games in charge of Forest, who have fallen to 17th place and are five points above the relegation zone.

Forest have chosen Nuno, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur manager, to replace Cooper on a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2026.

The Portuguese manager has over 460 matches under his belt, having led teams in the Premier League, La Liga, Primeira Liga, Champions League, and Europa League.

Following spells at Rio Ave, Valencia, and Porto, Nuno spent four years in charge of Wolves, winning the Championship title before finishing seventh in his first two seasons in the Premier League.

Nuno, who also led Wolves to the Europa League quarter-finals in 2019-20, left Molineux in 2021 to join Tottenham, but he was fired after only five months in charge after winning only eight of his 17 games in all competitions.

His most recent managerial stint was with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, where he led the club to the Saudi Pro League title and Saudi Super Cup in 2022-23, winning 36 of his 56 matches in charge before being fired in November.

Forest have confirmed that Nuno will take charge of his first Premier League game on Saturday, when the Reds host Bournemouth at the City Ground.
