The 30-year-old tested positive for testosterone after Juve’s opening match of the 2023-24 season against Udinese.

According to La Repubblica, Pogba’s attorneys rejected a plea agreement, alleging that the chemical was accidently consumed, but the midfielder is now facing a four-year suspension from football.

Pogba will turn 31 in the middle of next month, which means he will not be permitted to return to the field until he is 34, assuming the verdict is enforced, as it will begin when he first tested positive.

The 91-time France international began his professional career at Manchester United, but he only made seven appearances before leaving on a free transfer to Juventus.

Pogba’s first time in Turin was tremendously successful, with 178 appearances, four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia crowns, and the Italian Super Cup before returning to Manchester United in 2016.

Paul Pogba Career Stats

Pogba made 226 appearances for Manchester United, winning the Europa League, EFL Cup, and FA Cup, before signing a four-year contract with Juventus in July 2022.

The midfielder played in 10 games in 2022–2023 due to an injury. He he has only appeared twice for his current club this season.

Pogba was an unused replacement against Udinese in the team’s season opener, although he came off the bench against Bologna and Empoli before missing the next four due to injury.

According to Sky in Italy, Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal (TNA) recognized the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office’s decision to issue the suspension.

Pogba is allegedly considering filing an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He seems alleging that he did not intentionally break any rules.

The Frenchman’s contract with Juventus expires in June 2026. So, he will be a free agent once the four-year sentence is served. There are severe doubts about whether his professional football career will continue.
