Athletic Bilbao won the first leg 1-0 away on February 7 thanks to Alejandro Berenguer’s first-half penalty.

Nico Williams set up Inaki Williams 13 minutes into the home second leg, doubling Athletic’s lead.

The pair connected for the second goal, with Nico Williams scoring just before halftime. Gorka Guruzeta added 1 more goal on 2nd half sealing the 4-0 aggregate victory.

The second match drew 52,061 spectators to San Mames, the greatest crowd in Athletic history.

A medical situation in the stands caused a delay in the restart after halftime.

Athletic told X: “A person was asphyxiating and, thanks to the medical services, was stabilised and taken to the hospital.”

The final will take place at Seville’s Estadio La Cartuja.

The winner will advance to the Europa League group stage in 2024-25.

Mallorca won the Copa del Rey in 2003 after losing in the finals in 1991 and 1998, and they advanced to this year’s final with a 5-1 penalty shootout victory over Real Sociedad after the second leg ended 1-1 on aggregate.

Mallorca are 16th in La Liga, just six points above the relegation zone, while Athletic are fifth, one point above Atletico in fourth.

Athletic, who had won the Copa del Rey 23 times, overcame Barcelona 4-2 in the quarterfinals after Atletico had upset Real Madrid by the same score the previous round.
