Petr Cech, the legend

Petr Cech is now a member of the Premier League Hall of Fame. As the League’s newest former player, he receives the highest individual honor.

The Premier League Awards Panel and fans chose the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper in an online public vote.

Cech joins Rio Ferdinand, his former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and Sir Alex Ferguson as 2023 Hall of Fame inductees.

Since the Premier League’s inception in 1992, the Hall of Fame has recognized and celebrated individuals who have achieved extraordinary success and made significant contributions to the league.

Cech holds the Premier League clean sheet record with 202 shutouts in 443 appearances for Chelsea and Arsenal.

He won the Premier League four times with Chelsea, including back-to-back titles in 2004/05 and 2005/06 in his first two seasons in England.

The team conceded only 15 goals in his debut season, and Cech kept 24 clean sheets in 35 appearances, both records for a single season.

Chelsea won two more titles in 2009/10 and 2014/15, dethroning Manchester United and then Manchester City.

Petr Cech was a phenomenal save-maker. He is also famous as an organiser of his defense, with the ability to communicate in eight languages. He returned from a potentially life-threatening injury in 2006 and finished his career with four Premier League Golden Gloves, which is another record.

Petr Cech inducted in English Premier League Hall of Fame

Petr Cech joins Peter Schmeichel as the second goalkeeper to get the name into the Hall of Fame.

“Playing in the EPL was an unimaginable dream for me as a child growing up in communist Czechoslovakia,” Cech said.

“When I think back to where I started, diving on rock solid pitches with stones the size of golf balls, it’s been an incredible journey.”

“I want to be known as someone who worked hard, was dedicated, and was consistent.”

I’m proud of my clean sheet record and believe that a great save is equivalent to scoring a goal.
“But I was even happier when my team won games, earned points, and won championships thanks to my clean sheets!”

“It is an honor for me to be into the Hall of Fame list of the world’s best league.” That is truly a special honor that leaves a legacy. “I’m honored that fans voted for me and recognized my work over the years.”

All inducted players also receive a medallion bearing their name and the year of their induction. As well as they get a £10,000 Premier League donation to the charity of their choice.
