Presnel Kimpembe has signed a new contract with PSG, according to the club.

The 28-year-old, who has not played this season due to injury, has extended his contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, when he will be 30 years old.

“I’m thrilled to be continuing my journey with the club I adore.” I’d like to express my gratitude to Paris Saint-Germain, the President, and the fans for their renewed faith. “I hope to put on these colors again as soon as possible,” Kimpembe told PSG’s official website.

Kimpembe joined PSG’s youth system in 2005 and made his official debut just after his 19th birthday, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 3-1 win over Lens in October 2014.

Over the last eight years, the central defender has developed into a key figure for PSG, making 236 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Presnel Kimpembe is staying at PSG

As a member of France’s 2021 Nations League champions and 2018 World Cup winning team, Kimpembe has won 23 major honors at the Parc des Princes, including seven titles in the top division. Additionally, he picked for the 2020–21 Ligue 1 Team of the Year.

Kimpembe was forced to miss the 2022 World Cup due to Achilles tendon problems, but he made a brief comeback before rupturing it in February’s 3-0 victory over Marseille.

However, due to fitness issues, the France international was limited to just 15 appearances in the 2022–23 season and has been sidelined since.

PSG also confirmed that Kimpembe would undergo surgery on his lingering problem “in the next few days” despite yet to make his first appearance since Luis Enrique took over, but the club has not set an estimated comeback date.

Without the Frenchman, Enrique used Marquinhos, Danilo Pereira, and summer signing Milan Skriniar in a three-man backline against Metz on Wednesday, where the champions won 3-1 thanks to a Kylian Mbappe brace and a Vitinha strike.

The win over Les Grenats was also a watershed moment for Mbappe’s 16-year-old brother Ethan, who made his senior debut for PSG as a late replacement for Manuel Ugarte.

The champions’ win kept them five points ahead of Nice at the top of the Ligue 1 table, and their first game after the winter break will be against Coupe de France holders Toulouse in the Trophee des Champions on January 3 at the Parc des Princes.
