Raphael Guerreiro has stated that he will depart Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Guerreiro, 29, has been with Dortmund for seven years since signing from Lorient in 2016.
Following the conclusion of Dortmund’s Bundesliga season at the weekend, the dynamic left-sided player said farewell to Dortmund supporters on social media.
Guerreiro remarked, “After seven wonderful years, it’s time for me to say good-bye to you all with lot of sadness.”
“The memories I made here taught me a lot about myself on the field.”
“But they also helped me know what I really love about football.”
“I’ve always been myself while learning and growing here, and I’ll never forget the love I’ve received from the fans and my teammates over the last seven years.” I got to play with some incredible players!”
Guerreiro appeared in 224 games for Dortmund in all competitions, scoring 40 goals.
This season, the Portugal international continued to be a prominent first-team member, appearing 36 times and providing six goals and 14 assists.
Raphael Guerreiro began his final game for Dortmund on Saturday. A 2-2 draw with Mainz allowed rivals Bayern Munich to surpass them. As a result, FC Bayern clinch the Bundesliga title with a 2-1 win against Koln.
Guerreiro left Germany without a league championship, but he did win the German Cup twice while at Dortmund.
