Guerreiro is Bundesliga’s POTM for March

Guerreiro of Borussia Dortmund is the winner of the Bundesliga Player of the Month Award for March after some devastating performances aided the club’s title push.

Raphael Guerreiro is the Bundesliga Player of the Month for March 2023 .

Dortmund went outright top of the Bundesliga table for the first time this season at the end of March. Which gave them a lead to defend against Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker. Last month, Borussia Dortmund won seven out of a possible nine points. Similarly, they were unbeaten in 2023 until their loss in Munich. Guerreiro, who took on a new position on Matchdays 24 and 25, was instrumental in that run. Coach Edin Terzic used the Portugal international in central midfield, allowing him to flourish with two goals and three assists in two appearances in March, the most of any player in the division.

“In midfield, we know he can make sound decisions. He always moves into the half-spaces and knows exactly what to do “Terzic praised the 29-year-old after he scored and assisted in the Revierderby against Schalke. The coach used the same tactic with Guerreiro against Cologne at home, with similar devastating results. He is Dortmund’s most effective attacking outlet in the Bundesliga in 2022/23. He record was three goals and nine assists, with nearly half of those coming in just one month of March.

The Bundesliga Player of the Month award recognizes outstanding individual performances in the Bundesliga.

The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and the Bundesliga’s official licensing partner, EA Sports are the creators of the award. The award is created lastly for the 2018–19 season. The selection of the award is a two-stage process that takes into account the players’ individual performance data as well as a popular and expert vote.
