Following his £72 million move from Atalanta, the 21-year-old struggled to adjust to his new league, scoring his first goal for Erik ten Hag’s side in a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in December.

It was a great relief for the striker, as well as a vital goal, as he scored in the 82nd minute to stop a four-match winless streak.

Since then, he has been in blistering form, scoring seven goals in his last six league outings while also providing two assists to help United remain unbeaten in all of those games.

‘I’m really thrilled,’ he remarked on the club’s website. ‘Of course, receiving this prize is a great honor, especially considering the other contenders who were also nominated.’

Speaking about his recent performance, Hojlund stated: “I always like to say I have confidence before I go into a game.” Of course, scoring gives you a little extra momentum heading into the game.

‘You feel like you’re in good form and flow, and you can’t wait for the next game. They can’t arrive quick enough!

Injuries have hampered his impressive run of form, with the Dane missing United’s recent defeats to Fulham and Manchester City due to a muscle ailment.

Hojlund has teased that he may return for United’s match against Everton on Saturday, apparently leaving a cryptic note for fans outside the club’s Carrington training ground.

According to The Metro, when asked when he would return, he said, ‘We’ll see’.

Many previous professionals and journalists have praised Hojlund since his Premier League debut, while his manager, Ten Hag, has referred to him as ‘a fighter’.

‘We are really pleased with our recruiting, and [with Hojlund], we found the correct person,’ Ten Hag stated after scoring twice against Luton.
