Sebastian Hoeneß signs new long-term contract at VfB Stuttgart

Hoeneß stated after extending his contract with the club, “For me, VfB is a special club.” Even as a child, I sat in the stadium and cheered for the VfB. I wore the coat of arms on my breast as a youth player for three years, roughly 25 years ago, and won the German championship with the VfB U17. For me, the VfB represents feeling, something really special. I am delighted to have extended my contract with VfB early.

We were able to guide VfB in the right direction by working together. Our goal must be to follow this road indefinitely in order to permanently re-establish VfB in the top half of the league.

It was a pleasure from the start to work with this club, the coaching team, and the entire staff, as well as to receive such wonderful support from our fans.

Finally, nice discussions with Alexander Wehrle, Fabian Wohlgemuth, and Christian Gentner convinced me to extend my contract early.

We have a trusting and appreciative relationship. My attention is now more focused than ever on the current season’s critical period.”

Sebastian Hoeneß will stay with The Swabians

Hoeneß took over Stuttgart just under a year ago, yet in that time, he has transformed the club from relegation fighters to Champions League contenders.

What makes the feat even more surprising is that Stuttgart lost key players in Wataru Endo, Borna Sosa, and Konstantinos Mavropanos over the summer, but Angelo Stiller and Maximilian Mittelstädt appear to have fit in.

Hoeneß has recently been linked to the Bayern Munich job as an alternative to Xabi Alonso due to his connections with the Rekordmeister. Hoeneß previously served as a youth coach for Bayern, and his uncle Uli Hoeneß continues to play an important part in club decision-making.
