RB Leipzig wants to keep Xavi Simons

RB Leipzig manager Max Eberl has stated that the club will do all possible to keep Xavi Simons beyond the conclusion of the season.

Leipzig do not have the option of purchasing the young Dutchman, but they remain hopeful of keeping him.

“I believe we are emotionally tying him to RB Leipzig.” “He connects with us, the team, and the club,” Eberl added.

“We’re trying to get him to stay with us longer in the summer of 2024.”

Simons’ contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire in 2027.

Xavi Simons, a Dutch international midfielder, is making an impression at Leipzig. In five Bundesliga games with Marco Rose’s team, the former Barcelona youth product has three goals and four assists.

Paris Saint-Germain invoked their €6 million buy-back clause this summer to bring Simons back to the French capital after a spectacular season at PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch offensive midfielder agreed to a four-year contract with Les Parisiens, locking him down until 2027.

Because his loan move to Leipzig does not involve a permanent option, Simons is anticipated to return to PSG next summer. RB Leipzig Sporting Director Max Eberl, on the other hand, would be eager to extend Simons’ stay in Saxony beyond 2024. “It is clear that we intend to extend [his contract] in the best-case scenario,” Eberl told Kicker. “Xavi has made an excellent start and is well on his way to delivering an excellent campaign.” I believe we are emotionally tying him to Leipzig. We’re attempting to get him to stay with us next summer.”
