Real Madrid beat Valencia on penalties to reach Super Cup final

Real Madrid advanced to the Spanish Supercup final on Wednesday, defeating Valencia on penalties after a 1-1 draw. However, their victory appears to have come at a cost.

Real Madrid are already missing Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba, who have been sidelined with injuries. They appear to have three more problems to deal with.

Brazilian defender Eder Militao was taken off in the second half after taking a ball to the face. He has the most optimistic outlook heading into Sunday.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti told Marca that Lucas Vazquez has an ankle sprain.

“Lucas Vazquez has an ankle sprain. Camavinga has a knee injury, and Militao is dizzy, but he is improving. I’m not sure what Lucas has, Camavinga.”

Eduardo Camavinga was given a rare start against Valencia but was replaced at halftime by Luka Modric, implying that it was significant.

All three are questionable for the final, though neither Camavinga nor Vazquez are likely to start. However Ancelotti also admitted that Dani Carvajal had to force the issue to play. With Alvaro Odriozola still not fully fit, Dani Carvajal may need to play 90 minutes before he is ready.

Ancelotti could also start Militao or the versatile Nacho Fernandez at right back. The Brazilian was used there against Villarreal last weekend, but he struggled along with the rest of Real Madrid’s defense.
