Red Devils wants to sign Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta BC.
If Manchester United is successful in bringing in number one centre-forward target Rasmus Hojlund. After Hojlund’s arrival, the club will allegedly listen to bids for Anthony Martial.
The Red Devils have already signed Mason Mount this summer. They are reportedly close to acquiring Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Man United will supposedly increase their interest in Hojlund after the Onana deal is finalised, with a move for the Denmark international possibly costing up to €70 million (£60.1 million).
The 20-year-old scored 10 goals for Atalanta BC last season, including nine in Serie A, and is regarded to be Erik ten Hag’s top center-forward target this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, if United are successful in acquiring Hojlund, Martial will be permitted to depart Old Trafford before the end of the transfer season.
Martial impressed Ten Hag during the preseason last summer, and he began the 2022-23 season as the team’s starting center-forward.
However, the 27-year-old suffered with a series of injuries last season, limiting him to only 11 Premier League games.
In 29 appearances in all competitions, Martial managed to contribute nine goals and three assists, with six of his goals coming in the Premier League.
However, the Frenchman missed time due to hamstring, Achilles, back, and hip issues, and his future has been widely speculated in recent weeks.
Red Devils wants to depart with Anthony Martial if Højlund joins the club
Martial could not play in United’s first friendly of the summer against Leeds last week due to a minor injury.
The attacker has now been with the Red Devils for eight years, appearing on 298 times in all competitions. He has record 88 goals and registering 53 assists.
Man United are short of alternatives in the last third of the field. The futures of Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Elanga, and Jadon Sancho are now unknown.
There will probably be an announcement on Mason Greenwood soon. It is rumor that the 21-year-old will spend the 2023-24 season on loan.
Man United will play Lyon in their second pre-season friendly of the summer on Wednesday. They are going to play their second friendly match before flying to the United States for their pre-season tour. The tour will include games against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund.
