RB Leipzig has signed youngster El Chadaille Bitshiabu from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.

Leipzig announced that the tall 18-year-old defender Bitshiabu has signed a five-year contract extension until 2028. The probable transfer expense, with add-ons, is around €15 million ($16.8 million).

Bitshiabu made his PSG first team debut at the age of 16. He has appeared in 19 games for the club. He is also a France U19 international.

“”El Chadaille is one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders.”
“We’re happy that he now plays for RB Leipzig,” stated Leipzig board member for sport Max Eberl.

“El Chadaille will be given the time he needs to get used to this place so that he can gradually start to perform to his full potential and help us on the field,” said the coach.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of RB Leipzig,” Bitshiabu remarked. The club has a wonderful reputation in France, thanks in part to their on-field success, but also to the tremendous growth that young players may experience here at the top level.”

He is the two-time defending German Cup champions’ fifth summer acquisition, following Lois Opendo (Lens), F?bio Carvalho (Liverpool), Christoph Baumgartner (Hoffenheim), Leopold Zingerle (Paderborn), Benjamin Sesko and Nicolas Seiwald (all RB Salzburg).

Leipzig, on the other hand, has lost key players like as Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea, Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool, and Konrad Laimer to Bayern Munich.

Leipzig kicks off the season on August 12 against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup, and their first Bundesliga game comes a week later against Bayer Leverkusen.
