Reece James | Chelsea are gaining momentum as the captain returned to first-team training.

Reece James is 'BACK' to Chelsea training

Throughout the 2022-23 season, James was plagued by injuries, limiting him to only 16 Premier League matches.

After injuring his hamstring in training, the right-back had another setback in the early stages of the new season.

As a result, the 23-year-old has not played for the club since their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on the first weekend of the Premier League season.

Chelsea have received a boost following the news that James has returned to first-team training after being without their skipper for eight competitive games.

Reece James is BACK! The Captain will lead the Blues against BURNLEY

Chelsea captioned a photo of the England international in training, “A sight to behold!”

Reece James was doubtful to play against Burnley due to a one-match suspension.

The Football Association punished the full-back for his actions following Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa last month.

In the tunnel, James allegedly exchanged words with referee Jarred Gillett. He admitted to using “improper, insulting, and abusive words and behavior towards a match official.”

With Saturday’s game being Chelsea’s final before the international break, James will want to take advantage of the two-week break to strengthen his fitness.

James should be eligible for Chelsea’s first game back against Arsenal on October 21, according to boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Better news: Moises Caicedo, a summer acquisition, looks set to be fine for the weekend despite having to take off in Monday’s victory over Fulham.

Chelsea will, however, be missing a number of players, including defenders Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, and Benoit Badiashile.

Marcus Bettinelli, Romeo Lavia, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Christopher Nkunku are all injured.

This weekend, Chelsea, who currently sit 11th in the standings, will go to Turf Moor in pursuit of a third straight triumph across all competitions.
