The Gunners Arsenal and Shakhtar Donetsk are still in negotiations for the forward Mykhailo Mudryk.

Both the player’s value and the deal’s financial terms are in dispute, Shakhtar has rejected Arsenal’s opening offer of about £55 million plus add-ons.

There is cautious optimism that a deal can be reached because the player’s desire to join Arsenal is understood to have encouraged the club.

Mudryk shared a photo on Instagram while watching Arsenal play West Ham on Boxing Day.

Raphinha, a former Leeds winger who ultimately signed a £55 million move to join Barcelona, was pursued by Arsenal in the summer as they sought to reinforce their front line.

Mudryk’s potential signing is seen as an ideal purchase for Arsenal – the Ukraine international has been scouted for some time.

Mudryk, on the other hand, is not seen as a direct replacement for Gabriel Jesus. Jesus is expected to return before the end of the season.

This season, the 21-year-old has scored 10 goals for Shakhtar, including three in the Champions League group stages.

He was an unknown outside of Ukraine at the start of last season. While he had less than transfer value of less than £1m. He is now one of Europe’s most coveted young players. Mykhailo Mudryk appears to be on a meteoric rise.

Darijo Srna, Shakhtar Donetsk’s director of football, has described the 21-year-old as “the best player in Europe in his position” after Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Although that statement may be excessive, Srna is not the only one who thinks highly of Mudryk. Premier League leaders The Gunners Arsenal are at the head of his long list of suitors.
